Secure Living was co-founded in 2008 by Clifford Crandall, Jr. and Eric Stalloch. Once called the iTunes for Self-Defense due to their downloadable instructional video catalog, they branched out to offer seminars and staff training in 2010 when they added Cheryl Freleigh and Lynn Jessee to the board of directors. Toady, we offer free online media for health, awareness, and personal safety, produce books, DVDs and articles, and continue to teach groups for people of all ages and abilities including individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

Master Eric Stalloch is a permentently certified and active teacher in New York State, teaching Anatomy and Physiology and Forensics. He is an 9th Degree Black Belt in American Eagle Style under Grandmaster Crandall. Together with Grandmaster Crandall he has authored 3 books and produced numerous instructional DVDs.

Grandmaster Clifford Crandall, Jr. is a retired Superintendent of Schools, Principal, and classroom teacher in New York State. Secure Living was co-founded by Grandmaster Clifford C. Crandall, Jr. and Master Instructor Eric Stalloch in 2008. Our mission is to improve health, awareness, and personal safety for people of all ages and capabilities. What makes our instructional approach so effective? It’s the unique combination of our educational backgrounds, professional martial arts careers, and experience.
Educators. You should learn any new skill from a qualified, experienced instructor. Clifford C. Crandall, Jr. and Eric Stalloch are experienced educators. Mr. Crandall is a retired teacher, elementary and high school principal, and superintendent of schools. He has also taught at colleges. His experience at all levels of education gives him the skill to design and present effective personal safety programs. Mr. Stalloch is a practicing, permanently certified teacher. He is actively involved with a Syracuse University study of effective teaching methods and practices. His experience has enabled him to develop programs and teach personal safety to students of all ages. All programs include objectives and developmentally/ age-appropriate activities to teach these topics to your group.
Martial Artists. Secure Living teaches personal safety skills. Their experience as professional martial artists has helped to make them leaders in promoting personal safety instruction around the world. Grandmaster Crandall is the head and founder of the American Martial Arts Institute, which teaches American Eagle Style. He is also Headmaster for the world of the Takenouchi-Hangan-Ryu-Matsuno-Crandall school of Iaido, a 300-year old samurai sword style currently in its seventh generation. Grandmaster Crandall’s experience spans more than 50 years. Master Stalloch has been training under Grandmaster Crandall for more than 34 years. He is the proprietor of a full-time training location of the American Martial Arts Institute. Together they have authored books, produced DVDs, written magazine articles, and appeared on national television.
